Saalasti Rails as a Contracted Inspection Service Provider for the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has tendered inspection services for non-operating rail work machines. Saalasti Rails Oy has been selected as one of the contracted service providers.
For us at Saalasti Rails, this means a continuation of the responsibility we carry every day in ensuring the safety, compliance and usability of rail work machines.
The contract covers compliance inspections for non-operating rail work machines prior to commissioning as well as periodic inspections. The purpose of these inspections is to ensure interoperability of our customers’ equipment and safe operation on the railway network.
Inspection is part of our everyday work
At Saalasti Rails, we inspect non-operating rail work machines as part of our daily work. Inspections are not a separate administrative service for us, but a natural part of managing the full lifecycle of rail work machines.
In our inspection work, we combine:
- technical expertise and hands-on experience
- assessment of safe use in real working conditions
- alignment of documentation and regulatory requirements
When we know the machines at a practical level, we are able to carry out inspections carefully, with sound reasoning and without unnecessary complexity.
Tendering brings certainty for customers
The tendering process carried out by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency means that the competence, operating models and service quality of the contracted providers have been assessed. At the same time, pricing of inspection services has been competitively tendered and made transparent.
Saalasti Rails’ strength lies in the fact that inspections are carried out within an organisation where rail work machines are part of everyday operations. We have a clear operating model, a skilled team and the capability to carry out inspections in a planned and timely manner.
Our focus is on ensuring that our customers receive a reliable service where quality, practical expertise and cost are in balance.
We are committed to developing expertise
As part of the contract with the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, we are committed to training new inspectors. For us, this is an important part of responsible operations and ensuring continuity of expertise within the rail sector.
We train inspectors through hands-on work and support the development of career paths within the rail industry. This ensures that inspection expertise is maintained and continues to develop in the future.
“Inspections of non-operating rail work machines are part of our everyday work. When requirements, technical expertise and practical operations come together, customers can trust that their equipment is safe to use and ready for work.” Marko Korhonen, Saalasti Rails Oy.
