We are Saalasti Rails, a Finnish expert in rail rolling stock, maintenance and lifecycle services. We continue the long technical heritage of Teräspyörä and Steelwheel as part of the Saalasti Green Technologies group, which also includes Saalasti Biomass and Saalasti Cross Wrap.

From Teräspyörä to Saalasti Rails

Our roots are in demanding rail yard and industrial environments, where Teräspyörä was known as a reliable and practical partner. In these operating environments, we have built deep understanding of everyday rail operations, the critical importance of maintenance, strict safety requirements and rolling stock lifecycle management.

The brand transition to Saalasti Rails at the turn of last year was not a break from our history, but a natural step forward. The same expertise, the same people and the same hands-on working culture continue today under a clear vision and the shared Saalasti brand.

Our RailBear BB400 and TramBear BB400e maintenance vehicles are designed specifically for metro and tramway maintenance in demanding urban environments, where safety, agility and reliability are essential.

Rental and leasing services offer flexible solutions for repairs, modernisation projects and temporary assignments, ensuring continuity of operations without long downtime.

Modernisation extends the service life of existing equipment, improves safety and secures spare part availability in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible way.

Preventive maintenance and servicing reduce unexpected failures, shorten downtime and improve operational safety.

Spare parts, maintenance services, long-term maintenance agreements and our ECM role complete the offering and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Expertise in Finland and Internationally

We currently operate from Finland, but our expertise also supports customers in international projects. Our customers include contractors, industrial and logistics companies, rail operators and cities.

Who We Are

Saalasti Rails is a team of 26 rail professionals based in Kouvola. Our backgrounds include rolling stock design, assembly manufacturing, maintenance, rental services and project work.

What unites us is a strong commitment to safety, keeping our promises and a culture of working together. We work closely with our customers and partners and believe that the best solutions are created through collaboration.
